Mr. Evan Ashad Smith, 18, affectionately known as “Meek” was born August 1, 1999 at Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston. He departed this life on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at VCU/MCV Hospital, Richmond. Mr. Smith was a senior at Bluestone High School in Skipwith. Evan was an avid hunter and fisherman; he enjoyed being outside and his dogs. He was also loving and caring with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Erik Smith (Dai Dai); his paternal grandparents, Louie and Alberta Smith; his maternal grandfather, Harry Lee Clark , and two uncles, Ernest Smith and Leon Craddock. Mr. Smith is survived by his parents, Eric and Wilma Smith of Chase City; three brothers, Jaelyn Clark, Devon Parrish both of Chase City and Quentin Smith of Danville; one sister, Jasmine Smith of Burlington, NC; his maternal grandmother, Edith Clark of Chase City, VA; four aunts, Darlene Hayes (Eric), Shawn Tucker, Tamie Clark and Brenda Hatcher; three uncles, Jeffrey Clark, Edward Smith, and Eric Hayes; four great-uncles, seven great-aunts; two close cousins he considered sisters, India Clark and Idaysia Tucker; a very close friend, Shanita Tucker, and a host of very caring relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Evan Ashad Smith will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Robert E. Lee Auditorium, Chase City with Rev. Willie L. Carter, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Rocky Mount Baptist Church Cemetery, Skipwith. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City.
